Welcome to the SPE Oman website. Let me start by telling you first about SPE and Oman and then how they come together. The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a non-profit professional association whose members are engaged in energy resources development and production. SPE is a growing family of 79,000 plus members from more than the 115 countries worldwide. SPE is a key source for technical knowledge related to the oil and gas exploration and production industry and provides services through it's publications, conferences, workshops, forums and website at www.spe.org.       Now about our beautiful country, Oman.  It occupies the north-eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula known for its wonderful natural beauty and hospitable people (www.omantourism.gov.om). It’s impressive outcrops are a geologists paradise and it boasts of a mature and growing oil and gas industry. SPE Oman Section has been in existence since 1984 and is a proud growing family of 966 members and 4 Students Chapters.  SPE Oman’s mission is to be the key technical enabler in supporting Oman’s oil and gas industry challenges year on year by: • Collecting, disseminating, and exchanging technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of Oman’s oil and gas resources, and related technologies for professionals & public benefit; and • providing opportunities for Oman based professionals to enhance their technical and professional competences. • Have collective fun through our social events and activities programmes. Our typical annual program consists of technical seminars, field trips, and historical nights with other societies and annual panel discussion. Monthly luncheons are also important part of our program, aiming mainly for social gathering and networking with engineers and managers. The technical topics are contributed by speakers from local industries as well as international SPE Distinguished Lecturers This renewed SPE Oman website serves a forum to highlight our major activities and student chapters’ activities. In addition to pronouncing our stated mission and vision, we plan to periodically post fascinating industry trivia under a new tab “fun”.  The local Student Chapters are encouraged to send highlights about their major events to the website coordinator.
